Privacy policy & file handling

1. Overview

PDFToolbox ("we", "us", "the Service") provides free online PDF tools at propdfedit.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we process your files, and your choices. For a quick overview, see our Legal & privacy hub.

2. Tools that run in your browser (merge, split, compress)

These three tools process your PDFs entirely on your device using JavaScript libraries in your web browser. The file content is never uploaded to our servers — we have no technical ability to access it. Closing the browser tab removes all data from memory.

• No file storage on our servers for these tools
• No content analysis or profiling of your documents
• Maximum privacy for contracts, medical records, and sensitive PDFs

3. Tools that use our server (convert, edit)

Conversion and editing require server-side processing. We tell you this before any upload starts. When you use these tools:

• Your file is uploaded to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection and stored on our own infrastructure — not on AWS, Azure, or other third-party cloud processing services.
• Results are available on a private, unguessable link that only you receive. Links are not indexed and cannot be guessed.
• Uploads and results are kept for a maximum of 2 hours after the job completes, then deleted automatically by a scheduled purge task.
• Every results page includes a Delete button that removes your files from our server immediately and disables the link.
• We do not analyze, view, or use the content of your documents for any purpose other than completing the task you requested.

4. Passwords for protected PDFs

If a PDF is password-protected, we ask for the password to process it. Passwords are transmitted over HTTPS, used only for the active task, and never stored after the job completes or the browser tab closes.

5. Data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to run the Service:

• Technical logs: IP address, browser type, request timestamps, and error logs — used for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. Logs are retained for a limited period and not linked to document content.
• Job metadata: For server tools, we store job status, file names, sizes, and expiry times so the result page works. This metadata is deleted when the job is purged.
• No accounts: We do not require registration, so we do not collect names, emails, or passwords for login.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or document content with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Advertising

PDFToolbox is free and funded by Google AdSense ads shown in clearly marked areas that never block the tools. Google and its partners may set cookies to measure ad performance. These cookies never receive the content of your PDF files. See our cookie policy for details and opt-out links.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. For server-processed files, use the Delete button on your result page for immediate removal. For other requests, contact us at support@propdfedit.com.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
