About PDFToolbox
Free online PDF tools built for people who need to work with documents without expensive software, new accounts, or questionable file retention.
PDFToolbox is a free suite of online PDF tools: merge, split, compress, convert, and edit. We built it because working with PDFs shouldn't require expensive desktop software, a new account for every website, or handing your documents to services that keep them longer than they should.
The defining choice behind PDFToolbox is where processing happens. Merging, splitting, and compressing run entirely inside your browser using modern JavaScript PDF engines — your files are never uploaded, full stop. Conversion and editing need more horsepower, so those run on our own server infrastructure (no third-party cloud processing), with results on private links that self-destruct within 2 hours and a delete button that works immediately.
Every tool clearly labels whether it works locally or on our server before you add a single file, so you can always make an informed choice about sensitive documents.
What we stand for
Free means free
No accounts, trials, quotas, or watermarks. Ads in clearly marked zones cover our costs, and they never interfere with the tools.
Privacy by architecture
Where technically possible, processing happens in your browser so files never reach us. Where a server is required, retention is capped at 2 hours with instant delete.
Speed matters
Browser-side processing means no upload/download round-trips for most tasks. A typical merge or split completes in under a second.
Simple over clever
Each tool follows the same four-step flow — upload, configure, process, download — so you never have to relearn the interface.
How the site stays free
PDFToolbox is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense in designated areas of each page. Ads never block a tool, never appear inside your documents, and we never sell or share the contents of your files with anyone — advertisers included. See our privacy policy and legal hub for the details.
